Creamed Spinach recipe
I love creamed spinach. It has a great creamy flavor that accompanies tender leaves of spinach perfectly. Serves 4.
Ingredients:
- 1 large container baby spinach leaves
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
- salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
In a small sauce pan melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk while cooking until lightly browned and nutty in aroma, about 5 minutes.
Add the garlic and cream. Heat until the cream comes to a simmer and slightly thickens. Remove from heat.
Add the onion powder and Worcestershire sauce.
Put the spinach in a large bowl and pour the hot cream over to wilt it. Stir to combine completely. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
